MathCounts
Sponsor/Advisor: Mr.Taskin
Requirements: Math counts competition
Email: etaskin@harmonytx.org
Meetings: Monday
Fee:$50
Grade Level: 6th
Purpose: The competition is divided into four stages: school, chapter, state, and national. The problems increase in difficulty between levels—perfect scores are relatively common at the school-level. At the same time, winners of the written round at the national-level do not often achieve a perfect score. Each school is allowed to register ten students, including a group of four designated as the school team.
VEX Robotics-6th graders
Sponsor/Advisor: Mr.Camural
Requirements: VEX Competitions
Email: ecamural@harmonytx.org
Meetings: Monday
Grade Level: 6th
Fee: $50
Purpose: Middle school students will compete in teams for the VEX V5 Robotics Competition (VRC) multiple times throughout the school year. Competitive robotics isn’t just about building a robot—it’s about learning to approach challenges with confidence, resilience, and teamwork. The same problem-solving mindset that helps you design and refine a VEX robot is the foundation for tackling real-world engineering problems, scientific breakthroughs, and technological innovations. Working together with other people—whether it be your own teammates or someone from another organization—can be challenging, but it’s just as much a part of VRC as building a robot.
